Pitch and footprint — the board-fit constraint
The 1-84982-6: The 0.039" (1.00mm) pitch sets the SMD pad spacing and the FPC conductor pitch — every trace on the flex must align to this grid. The 16-position layout means the connector spans 15.00 mm from center of pin 1 to center of pin 16.
Current and voltage — where the limits live
The tin-plated phosphor bronze contacts carry the signal, but tin on the mating face means the connector is suited for low-cycle applications — think once-assembled cable assemblies, not frequent reconnects.
This vertical SMD connector mates with a 0.30 mm-thick FPC or FFC, single-sided contact pattern. The contacts are on one side only (vertical, 1-sided), so the flex circuit must have the pads on the correct face. Solder termination — no press-fit or IDC option.
