Harness Build: What This Housing Needs
The 5.00 mm pitch and 6.00 mm row spacing give it a wider footprint than a signal-grade connector — expect the mating header to occupy about 15 mm across the board. This is the half that terminates the harness side; the mating plug header carries the male tabs.
Sealed Duty: Where It Goes
The sealed feature means this housing is built for environments where moisture, dust, or splash is present — engine compartments, underbody harnesses, agricultural equipment, or any location that sees a pressure wash. The glass-filled PBT handles under-hood temperatures and exposure to oils and fuels. It is not an IP67-rated submersible connector on its own; the seal is between the housing and the mating header when fully mated, and the individual wire seals come from the terminal position assurance (TPA) and the rear wire seal, which are part of the full connector system. For a sealed assembly, you need the matching plug housing, the correct crimp sockets, and the wire seals — all sourced separately.
Terminal Selection: What Crimps In
The 1-963212-1 accepts Junior Power Timer female socket contacts. These are crimp terminals that insert into the housing cavities and lock with a primary latch. The exact contact part number depends on the wire gauge you are terminating — the Junior Power Timer series supports a range from roughly 0.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (20-14 AWG). The housing does not include a secondary TPA (terminal position assurance) retainer as a separate piece; the primary latch in the cavity holds the terminal. Confirm the wire size and the contact plating (tin vs. gold) against the current draw and the number of mating cycles expected.
Mating Half: The Plug Header
The header will have a locking ramp that engages the receptacle's latch to hold the pair together under vibration. The exact order code for the plug housing depends on the number of positions (6) and whether you need a flange for panel mounting or a free-hanging version. The header also ships without contacts — the male tabs are crimped separately. When ordering, match the position count and the row configuration to this receptacle.
