The Sealing Feature — What It Actually Means
The 'Sealed' feature on this housing means the interface between the receptacle and its mating plug is designed to keep water and dust out when the pair is mated. This is not an IP-rated standalone housing — the seal engages at the mating face, so the connector must be mated with the correct plug and locked to achieve the environmental protection. In practice, this housing is chosen for harness runs that pass through splash zones, engine bays, or washdown areas where a standard unsealed connector would corrode or short.
The housing ships empty. The crimp terminals (female sockets) must be ordered separately and are not included in the 1-967616-1 package. This is a common BOM trap — the housing arrives, but the build stops because the contacts are missing.
