IDC termination means the wire insulation is pierced by the contact tines as the cover is pressed down — no stripping, no crimping, no solder. The 22-26 AWG range covers common signal wire sizes; the slot geometry in the housing is tuned for that range, so using wire outside it risks an unreliable connection or a broken tine. For ribbon cable, the dual-row layout at 0.100" row spacing aligns with standard 0.100" pitch ribbon, making this a drop-in replacement for mass-termination harness builds.
