Termination and Wiring
IDC termination is the fastest way to build a multi-conductor harness — the insulation is pierced as the wire is pressed into the slot, and the contact bites into the conductor. The 103956-5 accepts 22 to 26 AWG discrete wire; stay within that range to get a reliable gas-tight connection. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting means it floats at the end of the cable, not fixed to a panel or board.
Mating and Locking
The latch lock engages with the mating header's locking ramp to hold the pair together under vibration or cable tug. It is a single-row, 6-position female socket receptacle — it mates with the corresponding AMPMODU MTE header (same pitch, same position count). The black housing colour is a visual identifier for the tin-lead variant; other finishes in the series may be natural or different colours.
