8-Position IDC Receptacle for Discrete or Ribbon Cable
It accepts 22-26 AWG wire and terminates without stripping or crimping — the contact displaces the insulation as the cable is pressed into the housing. The closed-end feature on this housing prevents the IDC contacts from being over-inserted and provides a positive stop during cable termination. The black housing is a single-row, 8-position layout, packaged in tube for automated or hand assembly.
IDC termination is a production-speed method: the cable is laid across the open contacts and a press tool drives the conductors into the bifurcated beams, which cut through the insulation and grip the conductor. No individual wire stripping or crimping is needed, which reduces assembly labor on multi-conductor harnesses. The 22-26 AWG range covers common signal-level wiring for ribbon cables and discrete wire bundles used in internal equipment wiring.
Mating and Fastening
The free-hanging mounting type means the connector is not board-mounted — it terminates the cable end and mates to a header soldered to the PCB, making it suitable for wire-to-board interconnects in control panels, test equipment, and industrial electronics.
