AMPMODU MTE 3-Position IDC Receptacle
The TE Connectivity 103978-2 is a 3-position receptacle in the AMPMODU MTE series, terminated via IDC to discrete 26-30 AWG wire. The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch matches the standard AMPMODU MTE pin header footprint, making this the wire-side half of a board-to-wire interconnect. Gold plating at 15.0µin (0.38µm) on the female socket contacts supports repeated mating cycles without contact resistance drift — suited for field-serviceable harnesses where the connector sees more than a few mate-unmate events over its life.
Termination and Wire Range
IDC termination means the wire insulation is pierced by the contact tines during assembly — no stripping, no crimp tool for the contact itself. The 26-30 AWG range covers common signal-level wire gauges; 24 AWG is outside the stated range, so a 24 AWG build would need a different contact or termination method. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting lets this receptacle sit in a harness without a panel cutout or board mount.
Mating and Compatibility
This receptacle mates with standard AMPMODU MTE pin headers at the same 0.100" pitch. The 3-position count matches a 3-position header — no partial population, no unused cavities. The black housing is keyed by the AMPMODU MTE polarization rib, so it cannot be reversed or mated with a different-series header. Stock both halves or neither: an orphan receptacle with no header on the shelf is dead stock.
