The shield termination is soldered directly to the connector body. The end cap threads onto the rear of the plug after the cable is prepared, clamping the braid and providing strain relief. For RG-402 semi-rigid, the standard prep is a square-cut end with the centre conductor exposed to the length specified in the TE installation drawing; the PTFE dielectric must be flush with the connector body shoulder to maintain the 50 Ohm transition.
