The gold-plated stainless steel body and beryllium copper centre contact with gold plating give it the corrosion resistance and mating-cycle durability needed for test equipment, antenna feeds, and instrumentation panels where the connector stays put and the cable gets swapped. The PTFE dielectric keeps the impedance stable across the band, and the threaded coupling with a flange mount means it torques down to a panel and stays — no wiggle, no intermittent opens.
The 18 GHz max frequency covers S-band, C-band, and most of X-band; if your signal chain runs above that, you need a different interface (SMA typically starts to mode at 18 GHz). The 500 mating cycles are standard for SMA — the gold-on-beryllium-copper centre contact takes the wear, and the gold body finish resists the corrosion that shows up on outdoor panels or in humid labs. The 335 V rating is the breakdown limit across the dielectric; in practice, RF power levels keep signal voltages well below that, but it gives you headroom if the line carries DC bias.

If your application can tolerate a parametric alternative, a standard SMA panel receptacle with the same 50 Ohm impedance, 18 GHz ceiling, and flange mount from the same or a compatible series would be the practical swap — confirm the panel cutout and centre contact termination match your assembly before committing.
