The single most important thing to know before ordering: contacts are not included. The housing ships empty. Ordering just the housing and expecting a wired connector at the bench is the most common miss on this part.
Mating Half and Harness Fit
This receptacle mates with a 4-position Micro Quadlok header (male pin header) at the same 2.54mm pitch. The free-hanging design means it terminates a cable assembly, not a board — the header is the board-mounted half. Crimp termination means each wire is individually inserted and crimped into a socket terminal, then loaded into the housing. This is field-serviceable: a bad wire or terminal can be removed and replaced without scrapping the whole harness.
