Crimp termination for RG-179 — field-fit checklist
The shield termination is crimp, not solder or clamp — the ferrule compresses the braid against the cable jacket for a gas-tight connection. The bayonet lock mates with any standard mini BNC jack; the 75 Ohm impedance holds only when the cable is RG-179 or a 75 Ohm equivalent with the same dielectric diameter.
500-cycle mating duty — field-service reconnect
The 500-cycle rating means this plug survives repeated mate/unmate cycles in test equipment, patch panels, or field-service connections where the cable gets disconnected and reconnected regularly. The gold-plated centre contact resists oxidation and fretting corrosion through those cycles. Silver housing colour is cosmetic — the nickel body finish provides the environmental seal.
