It is a right-angle, free-hanging (in-line) connector with snap-on fastening — the standard interface for the MMCX series, which is smaller than SMA and rated for higher-density RF interconnects.
RF Performance and Construction
The 50 Ohm characteristic impedance is matched to standard RF system impedance, so the signal sees no discontinuity at the connector interface — critical for maintaining VSWR below the system budget. The 6 GHz frequency ceiling covers L-band through C-band applications; above that, the insertion loss rises and the return loss degrades. The gold body finish and gold center contact plating provide corrosion resistance and stable contact resistance across the 500 mating cycle life — the snap-on coupling wears the plating less aggressively than a threaded interface, but after 500 cycles the contact force drops and the RF performance drifts. The solder shield termination and solder contact termination require a soldering iron, not a crimp tool, so the assembly is a bench operation with controlled heat — the -55°C to 155°C operating range means the solder joint must survive thermal cycling without cracking.
Kit Contents and Cable Fit
The package includes 2 pieces: the connector body and an end cap. The end cap covers the cable end after termination, protecting the dielectric from moisture and mechanical damage. The connector is specifically designed for RG-405 (.085" semi-rigid) cable — the center conductor diameter and dielectric OD match the connector's inner dimensions. Using a different cable type will change the impedance and degrade the RF performance. The Bulk packaging means the parts are loose in a bag, not on a reel or in a tube.
No official replacement order code is listed. If a substitution is needed, the RFQ request should note the cable type (RG-405) and the MMCX interface so a functionally equivalent alternative can be evaluated.
