The connector ships as two pieces: the plug body and a separate end cap that captures the cable braid after soldering. The snap-on interface trades some vibration resistance for speed — the 100 mating cycles are typical for a QMA, and the gold body finish plus gold-plated brass center contact resist corrosion in repeated mate cycles. The voltage rating is 335 V, adequate for most RF power levels below the 6 GHz ceiling.
Cable Preparation and Termination
This plug terminates to RG-402 cable only — the.141" semi-rigid outer diameter and the center conductor size match the connector's body bore and contact dimensions. The shield termination is solder: the cable jacket is stripped, the braid is soldered to the connector body, and the end cap is installed over the joint. The center contact is also solder-terminated. No crimp tool is needed, but a controlled soldering profile is required to avoid melting the PTFE dielectric. The right-angle free-hanging orientation means the cable exits at 90° to the mating axis, useful when the cable must run parallel to a panel or board edge.
