SMA plug for RG-316, 50 Ohm to 6 GHz
The 50 Ohm impedance and 6 GHz maximum frequency put this squarely in the SMA band for test equipment, short-range RF links, and antenna feeds where the cable run stays under a few metres. The nickel-plated brass body and snap-on fastening give a solid mechanical lock that holds through 500 mating cycles — enough for field-service connections that get swapped a few times a year.
This plug is built for RG-316 cable exclusively — the crimp ferrule and centre contact dimensions match that cable group's dielectric diameter and centre conductor gauge. The shield termination is crimp-only, no clamp or collet. The PTFE dielectric in the connector body matches the cable's dielectric, keeping the 50 Ohm line consistent through the joint.
Temperature range and field environment
The PTFE dielectric doesn't reflow or shift at the high end, and the gold-over-copper centre contact resists corrosion in humid or salt-spray environments. The nickel body finish sheds oxidation — no plating flake to contaminate the interface on reconnection.
