Rated 17.5 A at 300 V, it handles moderate power distribution inside industrial control panels, HVAC equipment, and power supplies where a screw-clamp connection is preferred over a pluggable header.
Termination and Torque — What the Screw Setting Means
Wire termination uses a screw-driven rising cage clamp — turning the M3 screw draws a brass nickel-plated clamp up against the conductor, trapping it between the clamp and the current bar. The specified torque of 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) is the upper limit; overtightening can strip the M3 threads in the nylon housing or deform the conductor. The 35° (145°) mating orientation angles the wire entry relative to the PCB plane, which helps route wire bundles in tight enclosures where a straight vertical entry would interfere with the cover or adjacent components. Both the clamp and screw are brass with nickel plating — the nickel layer resists corrosion in humid cabinet environments better than bare brass.
Ganging Blocks with the Side Interlock
A single 1546074-2 gives you two positions. The side interlocking feature lets you snap multiple blocks together along the long axis to build a multi-position terminal strip without a separate end bracket. Each block adds its own two positions at the same 5.08 mm pitch, so a four-position assembly uses two 1546074-2 blocks locked side-by-side.
