It uses a screw-rising cage clamp to terminate 15-17 AWG wire, and the wire enters horizontal with the board — side-entry orientation, which means the screw axis is parallel to the PCB. This is a through-hole mount part, soldered into the PCB like a header, but with the screw clamp on top for field wiring.
Wiring and Torque — What the Screw Spec Tells You
The 1546216-3 accepts 15-17 AWG only — that is a tight window, so confirm your wire size before committing. The screw is M3 brass with nickel plating, and the clamp is a brass rising cage, also nickel plated. The specified torque is 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In). That is a firm turn; under-torque leaves the wire loose in the cage, over-torque can strip the M3 thread in the PA66 housing. Use a torque screwdriver set to that value for every termination. The contact material is brass with tin plating, which is standard for a power terminal block — tin is fine for the few mating cycles a terminal block sees, and the nickel on the screw and clamp resists corrosion in the field.
