7-Position Side-Entry Terminal Block for PCB Power Distribution
Each position accepts 15-17 AWG wire and is rated 13.5 A at 300 V, making this a power-level interconnect rather than a signal-level block. The rising cage clamp termination, driven by an M3 screw at 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In), captures the conductor against a brass-nickel plated clamp plate for a gas-tight connection that resists loosening under thermal cycling.
Side Interlocking for Multi-Position Ganging
The 1546216-7 includes an interlocking (side) feature that lets you snap multiple blocks together side-by-side into a continuous multi-position assembly without a separate jumper bar or mounting rail. This is a practical difference from standalone terminal blocks that require individual screw-down or DIN-rail mounting. The interlock keys align the pitch and keep the assembly rigid on the PCB. The 7-position block mates mechanically with other Buchanan blocks of the same 5.00 mm pitch series — for example, the 1546216-6 (6-position) interlocks directly alongside it, sharing the same footprint and wire-entry plane.
Termination and PCB Fit
The rising cage clamp accepts solid or stranded 15-17 AWG wire. The M3 screw is torqued to 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) — over-torquing can strip the brass-nickel plated screw or distort the cage. The through-hole mounting pins are on a 5.00 mm pitch; the recommended PCB hole size is not listed in the spec, but a typical fit for this class of terminal block is a 1.3 mm to 1.5 mm plated-through hole.
