100-Position Fine Mate Plug for Dense Board-to-Board Stacking
The TE Connectivity 1565359-1 is a 100-position plug from the Fine Mate series, designed for high-density board-to-board interconnects where space is tight. It uses a 0.020" (0.50mm) pitch in a dual-row layout, which keeps the board footprint small while packing in a full 100 circuits. The connector type is a plug with outer shroud contacts — the shroud protects the mating interface and guides alignment when you press the boards together. Typical use is inside portable electronics, telecom line cards, or any assembly where you need to stack two PCBs at a fixed gap and route a lot of signals through a small area.
Mated Stack Heights: 4mm or 4.5mm
This plug is rated for two mated stacking heights: 4mm and 4.5mm. That means the same 1565359-1 works with a matching Fine Mate receptacle that sets the board-to-board gap to either of those heights. The height above board of the plug itself is 0.130" (3.30mm), so the total stack comes from the receptacle's height plus the plug's profile. If your design has a tight z-height budget, the 4mm stack gives you the lower option; the 4.5mm stack adds a little more clearance for taller components on the underside of the top board.
Surface Mount with Solder Retention
The 1565359-1 is a surface-mount part, so it goes through the same reflow oven as the rest of the board — no wave-solder step needed. The solder retention feature is a small mechanical anchor that holds the connector in place during paste reflow and gives a bit of extra shear strength once soldered. For a 100-position part at 0.50mm pitch, that retention matters: the connector is long and narrow, and without it the part can shift during solder reflow and misalign the pads.
