Receptacle Housing for a 3-Position Power Bus
The TE Connectivity 1600606-2 is a MULTI-BEAM XL receptacle housing, a panel-mount shell that accepts female blade socket contacts for a 3-power-position interconnect. It is the housing half of a Multi-Beam connector pair — the matching male header carries the blade pins that mate into these sockets. The black housing includes an integral guide pin to align the connector halves during blind-mate assembly, a common requirement in power-distribution backplanes and bus-bar interfaces where the connector is not easily visible during engagement.
Panel-Mounting and the Guide Pin
This housing is designed for panel mounting — it bolts through a cutout in the enclosure or bulkhead, and the guide pin engages the mating header before the power contacts touch. The guide pin takes the initial misalignment load, protecting the blade sockets from stubbing during hot-plug or high-cycle mating. For the panel cutout dimensions, reference the MULTI-BEAM XL product drawing; the guide pin adds a locating feature that the standard housing does not carry.
Contacts: Ordered Separately
This is standard for the MULTI-BEAM XL series: the housing and terminals are stocked and kitted independently to allow mixing plating grades (gold vs tin) and wire sizes per the application's current and cycle-life requirements.
