Termination and wire fit
The 160296 is the 10-12 AWG member of TE's Plasti-Grip ring terminal line, accepting wire from 10 to 12 AWG with a crimp termination and a serrated inner barrel for conductor grip. The tin-plated copper contact and PVC insulation suit general-purpose power and signal termination in free-hanging, in-line applications.
Stud size and insulation
The 5/16 stud size and 0.500" (12.70 mm) outer width distinguish the 160296 from smaller stud-size siblings in the same series — the 1/4 stud 1377172-9 and 8 stud 1377172-7 are non-insulated Solistrand terminals, not Plasti-Grip, and accept 14-16 AWG wire. The PVC insulation covers a wire insulation diameter range of 0.150" to 0.248" (3.81 mm to 6.30 mm), accommodating common 10-12 AWG jacketed cable.
