Single-Position Inline Housing for Power Series 120 Splices
The TE Power Series 120 1604001-3 is a single-position, free-hanging (in-line) connector housing designed as the building block for modular power distribution splices and taps. It accepts non-gendered crimp contacts, meaning the same terminal loads into either end — the housing itself does not enforce a male/female orientation, which simplifies field assembly for inline connections where both cable ends are identical. The spring retention fastening type secures the mated contacts without a secondary locking mechanism. A key distinguishing feature of this series is that the housings are stackable — multiple 1604001-3 units can be ganged side-by-side on a DIN rail or mounting bracket to create multi-circuit distribution blocks from individual single-position modules. This modular approach allows a harness builder to add or replace circuits without replacing an entire multi-way housing.
The buyer must source the matching Power Series 120 crimp terminal separately. The housing accepts non-gendered contacts terminated via crimp, so the same terminal part number is used for both sides of the splice.
Mating and Stacking
Because the housing is non-gendered and accepts the same contact on both sides, the mating connector for 1604001-3 is another 1604001-3 housing loaded with the same crimp terminal. Two identical housings mate together to form an inline splice. When stacking multiple units, each position remains independent — there is no inter-circuit bridging within the housing itself.
It is supplied in Bulk packaging.
