Stamped socket contact for Multimate III+ harnesses
It carries a gold contact finish at 31.5µin (0.80µm) thickness, suited for moderate mating-cycle duty in industrial and commercial interconnect assemblies.
Wire gauge and termination fit
Rated for 16-18 AWG wire, this contact covers the common power and signal conductor range for panel wiring and harness builds. The crimp termination uses standard Multimate III+ tooling — no special die set required. The stamped construction keeps per-unit cost lower than a turned contact, which matters when populating a multi-circuit housing.
Plating grade and mating cycle life
Gold does not form an oxide layer, so contact resistance stays stable over the life of the connection.
The 163084-2 is the same stamped socket for 16-18 AWG with gold plating, but packaged in Bulk rather than Tape & Reel — the choice comes down to your assembly line's feed method. The 163085-8 is a pin contact (male) for 20-24 AWG wire, so it is the mating half for this socket in a smaller wire range. The 163083-1 uses tin plating at 78.7µin instead of gold — a cost-saving option for one-time or low-cycle connections where corrosion resistance is less critical.
