Stamped socket contact for Multimate III+ housings
It accepts 16-18 AWG wire and carries a substantial 31.5µin (0.80µm) gold plating on the mating surface — thick enough for repeated mate/unmate cycles in field-service or corrosive environments without degrading signal integrity. The phosphor bronze base metal provides good spring retention and corrosion resistance.
Crimp termination means this contact is installed with a crimp tool — no soldering required. The 16-18 AWG wire range covers common power and signal conductors in industrial and automotive harnesses.
As a socket contact, the 164840-2 mates with the matching Multimate III+ male pin contacts and fits standard Multimate III+ housings — the same cavity geometry used across the series. The gold plating ensures low contact resistance through the mating interface, which matters for signal-level circuits where millivolt drops add up.
