MICTOR SB 40-Position Mezzanine Receptacle
The key differentiator here is the mated stacking height range: this single part number accommodates nine different board spacings from 5mm up to 30mm, which means one BOM line can cover multiple board gaps in the same assembly by varying the mating header height.
The 1658462-1 receptacle mates with the corresponding MICTOR SB header to achieve any of nine listed stacking heights: 5mm, 8mm, 11mm, 14mm, 16mm, 19mm, 22mm, 25mm, and 30mm. The board layout engineer picks the header height to match the z-axis clearance — the receptacle itself is a constant 0.128" (3.25mm) above the board surface. That fixed height means the footprint and keep-out zone stay the same regardless of the stack height selected, so a single PCB layout works across multiple end-assembly variants.
Contact Finish and Ground Bus
The receptacle also integrates a ground bus (plane) feature, which provides a dedicated low-inductance return path through the connector body rather than relying on signal pins for ground. That matters for signal integrity at higher edge rates: the ground plane between the contact rows reduces crosstalk and keeps the impedance consistent across the pin field.
Mounting and Assembly
Surface-mount termination with a board guide built into the housing. The tray packaging (standard for this part) feeds well into automated assembly lines; hand-placing from tray is straightforward if the volume doesn't justify a feeder.
