D-Sub Receptacle for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
IDC Termination and Wire Prep
This connector terminates to standard 26-28 AWG ribbon cable using an IDC press — no wire stripping, no crimp tooling. The 2-row layout matches the standard 0.054-inch ribbon spacing, so a 9-conductor cable aligns directly with the contact slots. A simple arbor press or hand IDC tool seats the cable in one stroke; the feed-through feature lets the cable exit straight through the back of the housing, keeping the harness profile low.
The 1658614-4 mates with any standard DE-9 (E-size) D-Sub plug — the shell layout is 1 (DE, E). The unthreaded housing flange accepts 4-40 jack-screws or slide-locks from the mating plug for panel retention. Free-hanging (in-line) mounting is the default, but the flange also bolts to a panel cutout for a fixed installation. Gold-on-gold contact interface with 30.0µin plating on both sides gives reliable signal transfer over repeated mate cycles in controlled environments.
