24-Position IDC Receptacle for 0.100" Ribbon Cable
The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1658621-5 is a 24-position IDC receptacle designed for mass-termination of 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. It uses the standard 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch on both the contact spacing and the row spacing, so it aligns directly with a 24-conductor ribbon cable and mates with the matching AMP-Latch pin header. The free-hanging (in-line) mount lets it sit at the end of a cable bundle without a board footprint.
This is an IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) termination — you press the ribbon cable into the slot, and the forked contact pierces the insulation to make contact with the conductor. No stripping, no crimping, no solder. It accepts 26-28 AWG ribbon cable, which is the standard gauge range for 0.100" pitch flat cable. The polarizing key and feed-through feature help align the cable and prevent a reversed insertion.
This receptacle mates with the AMP-Latch pin header series — the matching male half is a 24-position, 0.100" pitch shrouded header with the same polarizing key slot. The gold-on-gold contact interface keeps contact resistance stable over hundreds of mating cycles, which matters for a cable assembly that gets disconnected during equipment maintenance.
