IDC Receptacle for 34-Conductor Ribbon Cable
The TE AMP-Latch 1658621-8 is a 34-position IDC receptacle designed for mass-termination to 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. The polarizing key and feed-through feature let you daisy-chain multiple receptacles on the same ribbon, keeping pin-1 orientation consistent across the harness. Black housing is the standard colour for this AMP-Latch member.
Pitch and Ribbon Compatibility
The 0.100" pitch matches standard 26-28 AWG ribbon cable conductor spacing. The polarizing key on this receptacle prevents reverse insertion into the matching header.
IDC termination requires a press fixture — the forks pierce the ribbon insulation and cold-weld to the conductor in one stroke. The free-hanging (in-line) mount means this receptacle floats in the harness, not panel-mounted. Strain relief is not integrated into this housing; the harness designer should plan for external strain relief at the cable exit, or the ribbon will peel off the forks under tension.
