Key Features and Termination
Termination is IDC — the forked contacts pierce the ribbon cable insulation in one press operation, eliminating individual wire stripping and crimping. The free-hanging (in-line) mount suits cable-to-board harnesses where the receptacle floats on the ribbon and mates with a board-mounted header. A feed-through design allows daisy-chaining multiple receptacles on the same ribbon cable, and the integral polarizing key prevents reversed or mismatched mating.
The polarizing key in the receptacle aligns with the corresponding slot in the header housing, ensuring correct orientation before the IDC contacts engage. The free-hanging design means no board footprint is needed on the cable side; the header provides the board-side anchor.
