The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1658622-5 is a 24-position IDC receptacle built for mass-termination onto 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch ribbon cable. It accepts 26-28 AWG conductors and terminates with a single press stroke — no stripping, no individual crimping. The forked contact design pierces the insulation and wipes onto the conductor in one action. The black housing carries a polarizing key and a feed-through feature, so you can daisy-chain multiple receptacles along a single ribbon run and still keep pin-one orientation locked. It mates with the matching AMP-Latch shrouded header (the 0.100" pitch, 24-position male pin header) to complete a wire-to-board interconnect.
Mating Half and Assembly Fit
The polarizing key on the receptacle aligns with the keyway in the header shroud, so you cannot reverse the orientation or offset the rows. Before you press the IDC termination, confirm the ribbon cable conductor count matches the 24 positions; the press fixture indexes off pin-one, which is marked on the housing. The feed-through feature on the receptacle body allows a second ribbon cable to pass through the back of the connector and continue to another receptacle in the chain. This is useful for bus-style signal distribution inside an enclosure where multiple boards share a common data or control bus.
