The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1658624-2 is a 14-position IDC receptacle designed for mass-termination to 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch ribbon cable. It is a dual-row, free-hanging (in-line) connector that uses forked contacts to pierce the cable insulation — no wire stripping or crimping required. The housing includes a feed-through feature and a polarizing key to prevent mis-mating with the header.
IDC Termination and Harness Assembly
Termination is by IDC — the ribbon cable is pressed onto the forked contacts using a hand or pneumatic press. The connection is permanent; individual wires cannot be replaced.
