It accepts standard-size female crimp contacts and is designed for free-hanging (in-line) cable termination. The DE-9 shell layout matches the classic DB-9 footprint used across serial, industrial, and instrumentation interfaces. This version adds a shielded backshell and tin-plated steel shell with a 200µin (5.08µm) finish for EMI containment in electrically noisy environments.
The housing accepts the standard-size signal contact; the crimp tool and insertion/extraction tool are series-specific.
Shielding and Mechanical Build
The steel shell with tin plating and 200µin finish provides a robust ground path when mated to a matching shielded plug. The backshell feature helps manage cable strain relief and shields the termination area — useful in industrial cabinet or test-equipment harnesses where radiated emissions are a concern. The cable-side 4-40 threaded flange accepts standard D-sub jack-screws for a vibration-resistant mate.
