It is the male half of the crimp-terminated contact pair — mates with the corresponding socket contact inside the HDP-22 housing.
The crimp barrel accepts 22 to 28 AWG stranded wire. That range covers the typical signal and low-power wiring used in D-sub backshells and panel-mount harnesses. The brass base material gives good conductivity and ductility for a reliable crimp — the gold plating does the work at the mating interface, not the crimp zone.
Plating Grade and Mating Duty
That thickness is well above a flash plating; it keeps the contact resistance stable across hundreds of cycles without exposing the brass substrate.
