The TE 1658676-1 is a 26-position, 3-row high-density D-sub plug housing from the AMPLIMITE HDP-22 series. It accepts male crimp contacts (sold separately) and terminates to discrete wires in a free-hanging (in-line) configuration. The shell carries the DA (A) high-density layout — the same footprint as a standard DA-15 shell but packing 26 signal positions instead of 15, which means the contact density is higher and the crimp terminals are smaller than standard D-sub contacts. This is a shielded housing: the steel shell is tin-plated with 200 µin (5.08 µm) of finish, and the shell includes grounding indents that mate with the receptacle shell to bleed shield current before it reaches the signal contacts. The housing material is glass-filled nylon (PA), in black.
Contacts — Ordered Separately
These are high-density D-sub contacts with a smaller wire barrel than standard D-sub pins; typical wire range is 22-28 AWG for signal duty. The contact part numbers vary by plating (tin vs gold) and wire gauge, so match the contact to your signal integrity and mating cycle requirements.
Mating Half and Shell Hardware
The shell has unthreaded flange holes, so you supply your own jack-screws or slide-locks for panel-mount retention. The grounding indents on the plug shell contact the receptacle shell when mated, providing a low-impedance path for shield current.
