D-Sub High-Density Receptacle Housing, 15 Positions, Shielded Backshell
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE HDP-22 1658688-1 is a D-Sub high-density receptacle housing for female contacts, configured as a free-hanging (in-line) cable-mount shell. It carries 15 positions arranged in 3 rows, using the shell size 1 (DE, E) high-density layout — the same footprint as a standard DE-9 but with tighter contact spacing to fit 15 circuits into the same shell envelope. The housing comes with an integrated shielded backshell and a steel shell with tin plating (200µin / 5.08µm thickness), plus a cable-side 4-40 threaded flange for secure mating with the plug half. The dielectric is glass-filled nylon (PA), black in colour, supplied in bulk packaging. The receptacle accepts standard AMPLIMITE HDP-22 crimp female contacts (22-28 AWG range typical for this series), terminated with the matching hand or automatic tooling. The shielded backshell and tin-plated steel shell provide EMI containment for signal integrity in industrial, datacom, and instrumentation harnesses where cable shielding is terminated through the shell.
Mates with the matching AMPLIMITE HDP-22 high-density D-Sub plug housing (male contact side) of the same shell size 1 (DE, E) layout. The 4-40 threaded insert on the cable side accepts standard D-Sub jack-screws for locking the pair together. The backshell is assembled over the cable shield and clamped down to complete the EMI seal. No soldering or PCB mounting is involved; this is a pure cable-harness component.
