It is a crimp-type terminal, tin-plated brass, designed for wire sizes 18-22 AWG. This contact mates with the matching pin terminal and is used inside the Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK housing family — a common wire-to-wire and wire-to-board interconnect for appliance, automotive, and industrial control harnesses where the housing provides positive locking and the crimp contact gives a reliable gas-tight connection.
The 170362-1 accepts 18-22 AWG stranded wire. Use the TE-certified hand crimp tool or an automatic strip-and-crimp machine with the correct applicator for the Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK contact family. Tin finish on the contact means the crimp interface is suited for moderate-temperature environments (up to about 105 °C continuous, typical for the housing material) and for connections that are mated infrequently — tin's oxide layer breaks through on the first wipe but does not recover well after many cycles.
