3-Position IDC Receptacle for Discrete Wire Harnesses
The TE Connectivity 173977-3 is a 3-position IDC receptacle from the CT series, designed for terminating discrete 26-28 AWG wire without stripping or crimping. The 0.079" (2.00mm) pitch keeps the connector compact for tight harness layouts, while the tin-plated female socket contacts provide reliable connections in low-cycle, cost-sensitive applications. The natural-colour housing is free-hanging (in-line) and accepts the matching CT series male header or plug housing for a wire-to-wire or wire-to-board interconnect.
IDC Termination and Wire Range
The IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) termination eliminates wire stripping and crimping — the wire is pressed into the slot, where the contact cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor. This works with 26-28 AWG discrete wire, making it a fast option for low-volume prototyping or harness builds where speed matters more than per-terminal cost. The free-hanging mount lets the connector sit inline on the cable, not panel-mounted.
Mating and Compatibility
The 173977-3 mates with TE CT series male headers or plug housings that share the 0.079" pitch and 3-position layout.
