The IDC termination accepts 26-28 AWG discrete wire only — no pre-crimped leads or larger gauges. The insulation displacement slot is sized for this range, so a 24 AWG or 30 AWG wire will not terminate reliably. For a harness builder, this means the cable spec is locked before the connector is ordered; changing wire gauge later requires a different receptacle variant.
