IDC termination accepts 20-26 AWG discrete wire — the insulation is displaced by the contact tines as the cover is pressed down, making gas-tight connections without solder or separate crimp terminals. The free-hanging (in-line) mount suits harness runs where the connector floats between panels or ties into a junction box.
