Wiring and Sizing This 2-Position Block
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1776244-2 is a 2-position, single-level PCB terminal block from the Buchanan series. It uses a screw termination with a leaf spring and wire guard — the clamp pulls down on the conductor, not the screw thread directly, so the wire doesn't twist when you torque it. Accepts 14-22 AWG wire; the M2.6 screw takes a torque of 0.51 Nm (4.5 lb-in), which is firm enough for a solid connection on 14 AWG without stripping the polyamide housing.
Current and Voltage — What the Ratings Mean
That 10 A is the continuous current each position can carry at the rated temperature rise — derate above 105 °C ambient.
Through-hole mounting with horizontal wire entry — the screw terminals face parallel to the PCB. The interlocking side feature lets you gang multiple blocks side-by-side on the same rail without gaps.
Materials and Environment
The contacts are brass with tin plating — tin is fine for the screw-clamp interface where the connection is static; the galvanized steel screw with chromate plating resists corrosion in industrial cabinet environments. The stainless steel clamp spring maintains consistent pressure on the wire over temperature cycles.
