The TE Connectivity 182658-1 is a backshell with an integrated cable clamp, part of the CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) series. It is designed for shell size 11 CPC connectors, providing strain relief and cable retention at the rear of the connector assembly. The 5/8-24 UNEF thread mates directly with the connector body, and the 0.329" (8.36 mm) cable opening accepts a range of cable diameters for that shell size.
Thread Fit and Cable Clearance
The 5/8-24 UNEF thread is the mechanical interface to the CPC connector back end — it screws onto the matching thread on the connector body. The 0.329" cable opening sets the maximum cable diameter that can pass through the clamp; anything larger won't fit, and anything significantly smaller may need a wrap to take up slack in the clamp.
What's in the Bag
The package includes four pieces: two halves of the cable clamp and two screws. The clamp screws secure the two clamp halves around the cable after it has been terminated to the connector. The black thermoplastic material is the same UL94 V-0 grade used in the CPC connector housings, so the whole assembly presents a consistent flame rating.
Shielding and Grounding Note
This backshell is unshielded — there is no metal shell or conductive path for cable braid termination. If the application requires shield continuity through the connector backshell, a shielded version or a separate grounding accessory would be needed. For unshielded signal or power cables, this backshell provides mechanical retention without affecting the electrical characteristics.
