RJ45 Jack for Cat5e, Press-Fit to Backplane
TE Connectivity 1888250-1 is a modular jack, 8p8c (RJ45, Ethernet) rated for Cat5e — the standard for 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T structured cabling up to 100 MHz. The right-angle orientation and press-fit termination are built for board-edge mounting on a backplane or panel, with the EMI finger providing a low-impedance ground path to the chassis when the jack is seated in a cutout. A single-row, single-port configuration with a green-yellow bicolor LED integrated into the body — the LED signals link/activity status without a separate PCB-mounted indicator. Housing is thermoplastic, UL 94 V-0 rated.
Press-Fit Termination and Board Mounting
Press-fit means the compliant pin tail is pressed into a plated through-hole — no solder, no wave or reflow step. The jack mounts board edge, panel mount, or through hole, tab direction up, so the cable exits above the PCB. The EMI finger contacts the panel cutout edge, completing the shield path before the signal pins engage. In a metal enclosure this keeps common-mode noise off the cable shield and passes radiated emissions testing without a separate gasket.
