96-Position Backplane Header at 0.075" Pitch
The TE Connectivity Z-PACK TinMan 1934306-1 is a 96-position, 12-row by 8-column male pin header designed for high-speed differential-pair backplane interconnects. The 0.075" (1.90 mm) pitch packs 96 signal contacts into a board footprint that would normally hold 64 at a 0.100" pitch — a density gain that matters when the backplane real estate is already allocated to power and ground planes.
Termination is press-fit (compliant pin) through the plated through-hole — no solder, no reflow profile, no flux residue. The press-fit interface cold-welds the pin to the barrel wall, giving a gas-tight joint that survives thermal cycling in the backplane. The board house must specify the finished hole size and the PCB thickness to match the compliant-pin zone; the datasheet drawing provides the recommended hole diameter and the allowable board thickness range. Through-hole mounting with press-fit means the connector is loaded into the board on a press, then the backplane goes through wave or selective solder for the other components — or none at all if the whole assembly is press-fit.
The 0.5 A rating is derated from the contact's true current capacity to stay within the temperature rise budget of the housing material (UL94 V-0,). For a backplane that sees multiple card insertions over its service life, the 30 µ" gold is the difference between a connector that still makes clean contact after 500 cycles and one that starts showing intermittent opens at 200.
