2.00 mm pitch IDC receptacle for 28 AWG ribbon cable
The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 2-111626-4 is an 8-position, 2-row receptacle built for mass-termination to 28 AWG ribbon cable via IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact). The 0.079" (2.00mm) pitch on both the contact rows and the row spacing matches the standard 2.00 mm ribbon cable grid — the cable lays into the slot and the IDC forks pierce the insulation in one press operation.
IDC termination — one press, no wire strip
This is a feed-through design (the cable passes through the housing), which makes it straightforward to daisy-chain multiple receptacles along the same ribbon cable run. The IDC termination is specific to 28 AWG ribbon cable — the slot geometry and fork dimensions are tuned for that wire gauge, so swapping to a different gauge or to discrete wires isn't supported without changing the connector family. No crimp tool needed — a hand press or arbor press seats the cable in one stroke.
