The press-fit termination means it installs without solder — the compliant pin compresses into the plated through-hole, which is the standard approach for backplane assemblies where rework and field replacement matter. Right-angle orientation puts the cage perpendicular to the board, matching the panel edge for front-panel port access.
Integrated features: EMI shielding and light pipe
The cage carries built-in EMI shielding and a light pipe. The shielding contains radiated emissions from the high-speed transceiver inside the cage — saves placing a separate gasket or clip. The light pipe routes the port-status LED from the PCB to the bezel, so you get visual link indication without a separate molded light guide. Both features reduce component count and assembly steps on the line.
