The EMI shielding and light pipe give you both signal integrity containment and a visual link-status indicator at the bezel.
Press-fit and right-angle mounting
Press-fit termination means the cage pins are compliant enough to cold-form into the plated through-hole — no wave solder, no reflow, no flux residue. That makes it a clean fit for a backplane or mid-board assembly where you want to avoid thermal stress on the PCB. The right-angle orientation puts the cage opening flush with the board edge, so a QSFP+ or ZQSFP+ module slides in from the faceplate side.
Integrated heat sink and light pipe
The integrated heat sink pulls thermal load off the module without a separate clip or thermal pad — one less part to source and assemble. The light pipe channels the module's status LED to the front panel, so you don't need a separate board-level indicator. Together they reduce component count on the line.
