Backshell for 25-Position D-Sub Cable Assemblies
The TE Connectivity ADK series 2-2198618-5 is a two-piece backshell designed to terminate and shield round cable assemblies using standard 25-position D-Sub connectors. The 45° cable exit allows the cable to angle away from the connector axis, which helps route the harness in tight panel-mount enclosures where straight exits would interfere with the wall or adjacent components. The shell is nickel-plated for EMI/RFI shielding continuity from the connector body through to the cable braid. The plastic inner body is molded from ABS, and the assembly includes the mating screws (4-40 thread), grommets, and strain relief hardware — so the backshell arrives ready for cable termination without sourcing separate fasteners.
What the Hardware Includes
This backshell ships with the 4-40 mating screws already included — no need to order them separately. The hardware set also covers the assembly hardware, grommets, and strain relief components. The grommet compresses around the round cable jacket when the two shell halves are tightened, providing pull relief and a clean termination point. The strain relief keeps the cable from flexing at the solder cup or crimp termination inside the connector.
