SFP+ Cage for High-Speed I/O
The TE Connectivity 2007198-1 is an SFP+ cage, the metal enclosure that houses an SFP+ module and provides the mechanical interface to the host board. It is the 2007198 series member designed for 10 GbE and Fibre Channel applications where the cage absorbs the insertion force and manages the thermal load from the module. Termination is press-fit, which means the compliant pins cold-form into the plated through-hole — no solder required. That keeps the assembly lead-free and rework-friendly on a backplane or mid-plane where reflow is impractical.
EMI Shielding and Module Fit
The cage carries an EMI shield — the stamped metal spring fingers on the bezel and the internal gasket contact the module face and the panel cutout to contain radiated emissions. The 2007198-1 is compatible with standard SFP+ modules. The cage geometry and the card-edge connector pitch are fixed by the MSA, so any SFP+ transceiver fits the mechanical envelope.
