Machined pin contact for Multimate II housings
What the 30 microinch gold plating buys you
The 30.0µin gold thickness is at the upper end of standard signal-contact plating. It provides enough wear resistance for applications that see frequent connect-disconnect cycles — think field-serviceable modules or test points — and enough corrosion protection for indoor industrial environments where humidity or mild contaminants are present.
Use the manufacturer's specified crimp tool and die set — the indent profile controls the pull-out force and the electrical resistance across the crimp. A properly set crimp on 22 AWG will typically pull out above 15 lbf and measure under 2 mOhm. The machined construction gives a consistent barrel wall thickness, which means the crimp quality is repeatable across a production run.
