SFP+ Cage for 10 GbE I/O — Press-Fit, Right-Angle, EMI Shielded
The TE Connectivity 2057159-1 is an SFP+ cage — the metal enclosure that houses a standard SFP+ transceiver module at the board edge. It terminates via press-fit pins through the PCB, eliminating the need for solder and keeping the assembly compatible with high-layer-count backplanes where rework is costly.
Press-Fit Termination and Board Lock Retention
Press-fit termination means the cage pins are compliant — they compress into the plated through-hole without solder. That saves a wave-solder step and makes the cage field-replaceable if a module latch breaks. The board lock feature adds mechanical retention during the reflow cycle for any secondary SMT components on the same board, and it takes the shear load off the press-fit pins when the transceiver is inserted or extracted.
