CPC Backshell for Size-13 Circular Connectors
This is the TE Connectivity 206966-7 backshell and cable clamp assembly for the CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) series. It fits shell size 13 inserts and provides a 180° cable exit with a 3/4-20 UNEF thread that mates directly to the connector body. The clamp screws cinch down on the cable jacket to take the strain off the contacts inside the connector — without it, a yank on the cable translates straight to the crimp terminations. Cable opening measures 0.453" (11.51 mm), which handles a reasonable range of multi-conductor cables for a size-13 insert. The kit ships with the 3-piece cable clamp and two mounting screws — no need to chase down hardware separately for a standard install.
Thread Fit and Cable Clearance
The 3/4-20 UNEF thread is the standard mating thread for TE's CPC size-13 connector bodies. UNEF (Unified Extra Fine) gives more thread engagement per turn than a coarse thread, which helps the backshell stay tight under vibration without backing off. The 0.453" cable opening is the maximum diameter the clamp can accept — if your cable jacket is larger than that, you need a different shell size or a split-frame backshell.
What's in the Bag
The package is a bag containing five pieces: three pieces that form the cable clamp assembly, plus two screws. The clamp splits to wrap around the cable, and the screws draw the halves together. No separate grommet or O-ring is included — this is a basic strain-relief backshell, not a sealed/cord grip variant. For IP-rated applications, you'd want a different part with a compression gland.
